Description

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds pork shoulder (cut into chunks)
  • ¼ cup cane vinegar or white vinegar
  • ⅓ cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 6 cloves garlic (chopped)
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 teaspoons black peppercorns
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  • Heat vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  • Add pork chunks and brown on all sides.
  • Pour in vinegar and soy sauce, then add garlic, bay leaf, peppercorns, and sugar.
  • Stir in water and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer for 1 to 1.5 hours until pork is tender.
  • Serve hot with rice.

  • For a richer flavor, marinate the pork in soy sauce and vinegar for 30 minutes before cooking.
