Walking Tacos

The Best Walking Tacos Recipe

  • Author: Sarah White

Description

Discover how to make walking tacos, a fun and easy taco-in-a-bag meal. Perfect for parties, picnics, or a quick dinner!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 oz envelope taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 6 individual size bags of chips (Fritos or Nacho Cheese Doritos work best)

Toppings (Optional but recommended):

  • Shredded lettuce
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Sliced black olives
  • Diced avocado or guacamole
  • Chopped onions
  • Salsa or pico de gallo
  • Sour cream

Instructions

  1. Cook the Ground Beef:
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.

  2. Add Taco Seasoning:
Add the taco seasoning to the cooked beef, followed by the water. Stir well to combine, and let the mixture simmer for 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens and the flavors meld.

  3. Prepare the Chips:
While the beef is cooking, lay out the individual bags of chips on a clean surface. Open each bag slightly, enough to create space for the taco filling. If you’re using Fritos, the bag is already sturdy, but if you’re using Doritos, be gentle so you don’t rip the bag.

  4. Assemble the Walking Tacos:
Spoon the seasoned ground beef into each bag of chips, making sure each one gets a generous portion. Then, add your favorite toppings to the mix—shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, black olives, avocado, onions, salsa, or sour cream.

  5. Serve and Enjoy:
Let everyone mix their toppings into the chips using a fork, and enjoy this hands-on meal! The best part? No plates needed—just eat straight from the bag!
