Description

Juicy smash burgers layered with Swiss cheese, whiskey-glazed mushrooms, and a rich garlic butter drizzle. A gourmet burger made easy at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)

  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced

  • 2 tbsp butter (for mushrooms)

  • 2 tbsp whiskey

  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 2 tbsp butter (for garlic butter)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

  • 4 slices Swiss cheese

  • 4 brioche buns, lightly buttered

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, melt butter and sauté mushrooms until golden. Add whiskey, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer until glaze thickens, then set aside.

  2. In a small pan, melt butter and cook garlic until fragrant. Stir in parsley and a pinch of salt. Keep warm.

  3. Form ground beef into 4 loose balls. Heat a cast-iron skillet until hot, then smash each ball into a thin patty. Season with salt and pepper.

  4. Flip patties once crisp on the edges. Immediately top with Swiss cheese and cover briefly until melted.

  5. Toast brioche buns until golden. Layer patties on buns, add mushrooms, and drizzle with garlic butter. Serve hot.

Notes

For extra flavor, serve with caramelized onions or add a dash of hot sauce to the garlic butter. Store leftover patties in an airtight container for up to 3 days; reheat in a skillet.
